Live Edge Black Walnut Coffee Table with Black Epoxy & Curly Maple Bow Ties
What Was Nearly Burned, Now Belongs
This slab was almost lost, split wide, cracked deep, destined for the burn pile.
But some pieces are worth saving, even the broken ones, especially the broken ones.
I filled the fracture with black epoxy. I stitched the story shut with curly maple bow ties, not to hide the damage, but to celebrate it. The edge was left live, the grain left proud, and every mark, from bug trail to break line, was honored rather than erased.
Now, it lives on as a coffee table. A second chance.
A quiet reminder that beauty doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be seen.
Travis was professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about his craft. He shared every step of this process with me and had substantial communication with me while deciding modifications. I had a specific vision in mind for a coffee table, and he brought it to life. You can tell this table wasn’t just built — it was crafted. The craftsmanship is truly exceptional; the table was done with care and attention to detail. Not only is the table stunning to look at, but it’s also sturdy and functional — a perfect centerpiece for my living room.
